LOUISVILLE, KY (August 17, 2021) – On the heels of a stellar national summer tour, THUNDERSTRUCK: AMERICA’S AC/DC announces they are breaking ground in the state of California with two dates in mid-September 2021. The immensely popular nationally touring tribute act will kick off the mini tour on September 17th headlining the Lodi Grape Festival on the Michelob Ultra Main Stage. The tour will conclude at The Ritz Theater in Escondido on September 18th. Tickets for both these dates are currently available at www.grapefestival.com and www.theritzescondido.org.
Known for their impressive live performances, which have consistently been praised by critics for their authenticity and dedication to the Spirit of AC/DC, Thunderstruck:America’s AC/DC will take the stage performing several deep cuts (e.g. “Sink the Pink”, “Dog Eat Dog”) alongside AC/DC fan favorite hits (e.g. “Back in Black”, “Thunderstruck”, “You Shook Me All Night Long”) in their highly anticipated California tour. Metal Nexus says, “This band, in my opinion, is one of the premiere tribute bands filling some big shoes by covering all of AC/DC’s mega hits! From guitar setups, equipment, song selections, wardrobe, band merchandise and putting on one hell of a stage show, Thunderstruck has no problem living up to the task!”
For Tyler Melen, the lead guitarist and “Angus Young” of the group, the California tour is a homecoming. He was born and raised in Cupertino, making his first appearance paying tribute to AC/DC as Angus at a Cupertino High School talent show. He went on to rock in multiple NorCal AC/DC tributes, such as Jailbreak, and has supported Bay-area legends Long Gon Bon and Priest DC. After leaving the Bay-area to attend the University of California-San Diego, Melen spent the previous eight years before joining Thunderstruck in 2020 playing in several San Diego and LA-based acts, including Back to Black, Noise Pollution: The Ultimate AC/DC Experience, Firing All Cylinders, and the San Diego punk-damaged rock outfit, The Focke Wolves.
